SHANGHAI, Oct 21 (SMM) – China’s total exports of wrought manganese, manganese products, unwrought manganese, shredded scrap, and powder scrap stood at 34,300 mt in September, up 3.62 month on month and 45.32% year on year, according to SMM statistics.
China’s total exports of unwrought manganese, shredded scrap, and powder scrap stood at 30,178 mt in September, up 2.5% month on month and 47.5% year on year.
Exports of wrought manganese and manganese products stood at 4,167 mt in September, up 12.49% on the month and 31.39% on the year.
The largest importers of unwrought manganese, shredded scrap and powder scrap were: the Netherlands (8252 mt), Japan (5793 mt), South Korea (5580 mt), and the Russian Federation (4179 mt).
The largest importers of wrought manganese and manganese products in September were: the United States (1958 mt), Brazil (1215 mt), India (374), and Japan (140 mt).
Europe and Japan remained the most important importers of manganese metal in September. According to some exporters, overseas steel companies and traders had made inquiries and preparations in advance before the National Day. Some of the exported goods were for the delayed orders in August. In fact, the overall overseas export demand was relatively stable in August and September. The October tender of South Korea’s Posco indicates that the steel companies’ are willing purchase at the surging manganese prices in the short term, which has supported the domestic EMM prices.
The inquires and transactions are fewer as of mid-October than that in September. SMM believes that the short-term price trend depends on the demand performance.
