Zinc Social Inventories Up 8,100 mt over the Weekend

Total zinc inventories across seven Chinese markets stood at 147,200 mt as of October 18, up 8,100 mt from Friday October 15 and 10,600 mt from last Monday October 11.

SHANGHAI, Oct 18 (SMM)—Total zinc inventories across seven Chinese markets stood at 147,200 mt as of October 18, up 8,100 mt from Friday October 15 and 10,600 mt from last Monday October 11.

The inventory in Shanghai added amid stable arrivals and less purchase on the back of high prices. Guangdong saw rising inventory as the demand was less active while the arrivals improved. The inventory in Tianjin recorded declines because the downstream sector mostly purchased on rigid demand and the arrivals have been limited.

The total inventories in Shanghai, Guangdong and Tianjin added 6,100 mt over the weekend, and those in the 7 marketed climbed by 8,100 mt.

Jan-Feb Die-Casting Zinc Alloy Exports Up Slightly YoY, Backed by Southeast Asia

According to the latest customs data, China’s total exports of die-casting zinc alloy from January to February reached 689.33 mt, up slightly by 0.9 percentage points YoY on a cumulative basis; imports, however, totaled 48.11 million mt, down 35.46 percentage points YoY on a cumulative basis. Overall, China’s die-casting zinc alloy trade from January to February showed a pattern of slightly higher exports and a significant pullback in imports.
