At the 2021 China rare Earth permanent Magnet Industry Market Application Development Forum held by SMM, Xia Ning, a senior engineer of Inner Mongolia Baotou Steel rare Earth Magnetic Materials Co., Ltd., brought you the current situation and development direction of NdFeB rapid solidification alloy technology.

The opportunity period for the development of the industry has come.

Among the rare earth functional materials in China, rare earth permanent magnet materials account for the highest proportion, accounting for 75%, with an output value of about 50 billion yuan. If the output value of the whole industrial chain from NdFeB rare earth raw materials to NdFeB finished products is calculated, the approximate proportion is more than 60% of the total output value of China's rare earth industry.

The prosperity of the rare earth permanent magnet industry: the cost competition of middle and low-end products has intensified, and the focus of technological direction has shifted to composition optimization; high-end products pursue breakthroughs in application fields and turn to performance improvement; the influx of funds and talents provides support for technological progress; technological innovation centers and R & D centers at all levels have been established to provide conditions for scientific and technological means innovation.

The focus of technological research has changed.

Technical research focuses on two aspects: cost reduction and performance improvement:

First, with the continuous improvement of the manufacturing level and automation level of the industry, the technical focus of cost reduction is on the optimization of composition ratio and rapid solidification alloy. Second, driven by the application of new technology, the maximum magnetic energy product of NdFeB has reached more than 90% of the theoretical value, while the coercivity is less than 30% of the theoretical value, and the technical focus of performance improvement is also on composition optimization and rapid solidification alloy.

Cost control: middle and low-end field: competition in application field; competition in cost control.

Intellectual property: high-end field: competition for application expansion; competition for performance improvement.
