According to foreign media reports, Tesla plans to expand the production line of Model Y models in its Fremont plant, according to documents submitted to the Fremont (Fremont) municipal government.
The Model Y is the latest model currently on sale by Tesla, and it is also the company's most popular model in many markets. The company is currently producing the all-electric crossover at the Fremont plant, known as GA 4.5, which is located in a tent-like structure outside the main plant, where part of the Model 3 has been produced since February 2020.
Now Tesla is trying to expand the capacity of the production line. According to the documents, Tesla has applied for the expansion of GA 4.5. in addition, the company has submitted a number of other documents, including "southward expansion of the shell and facilities of GA 4.5" and "improvements to the battery connection tools of GA 4.5".
Tesla has made great progress in improving GA 4.5. In addition, Tesla successfully avoided the chip shortage by developing his own microcontroller. However, higher demand has delayed the expected delivery of some vehicles to 2022. Tesla is currently doing his best to meet market demand, and the company currently has only one car production plant in North America.
The company said at a recent shareholder meeting that the Fremont plant can now produce 500000 Model 3 and Model Y cars a year, two of Tesla's most popular models. The company is trying to increase production capacity to meet growing demand. Later this year, its superplant in (Austin), Austin, Texas, will start producing Model Y. In addition, production at its super factory near Berlin, Germany, will begin before the end of the year, when the production capacity of Model Y will be further increased.
Tesla has always dominated the global electric car market. Immediately after its launch, Model Y surpassed the Model 3 to become the company's most popular model. Therefore, it is in Tesla's best interest to increase the production capacity of Model Y.
