Prices Pulled Back Slightly, Secondary Aluminium Prices Stood Firm

SHANGHAI, Sep 1 (SMM) - Aluminium prices fell slightly today. SMM A00 aluminium fell 80 yuan/mt from yesterday to 21,160 yuan/mt. Secondary aluminium prices remained unchanged.

Quotations from domestic large secondary aluminium producers were unchanged and stood at 20,800-21,000 yuan/mt (included one-month account and freight), while small and medium-sized factories remained 20,500-20,700 yuan/mt. Imported aluminium ingots thinned while the immediate loss of imports increased. Although aluminium prices retreated slightly, silicon prices continued to be strong. Secondary aluminium prices stood firm amid high costs. And the market kept their quotations unchanged. Die-casting plants showed rigid demand, which reduced their output due to high costs and losses.

Secondary aluminium prices are expected to fluctuate at high levels.
