Aluminium prices fluctuated at high levels today. SMM A00 aluminium fell 60 yuan/mt from yesterday to 20,540 yuan/mt. Secondary aluminium prices stood firm.

SHANGHAI, Aug 26 (SMM) - Aluminium prices fluctuated at high levels today. SMM A00 aluminium fell 60 yuan/mt from yesterday to 20,540 yuan/mt. Secondary aluminium prices stood firm.

Quotations from domestic large secondary aluminium producers were unchanged and stood at 19,950-20,250 yuan/mt (included one-month account and freight), while small and medium-sized factories and traders raised their quotes by 100 yuan/mt to 19,600-19,800 yuan/mt.

Arrivals of imported aluminium ingots thinned while the immediate loss of imports shrank slightly. Although aluminium prices retreated slightly, silicon prices increased 500 yuan/mt today, with some producers raised their offers by 100 yuan/ton today. Die-casting plants showed rigid purchase of goods, which reduced their output due to high costs and losses. Secondary aluminium prices are expected to fluctuate.
