The Fourth Batch of the Second Round of Environmental Protection Inspection Launched in 5 Provinces and 2 Enterprises

SHANHGAI, Aug 25 (SMM) – The Fourth batch of the second round of environmental protection inspection was implemented according to Environmental Protection Inspection Work Regulations approved by the Party Central Committee and the State Council.

Seven ecological and environmental protection inspection teams (hereinafter referred to as the inspection teams) have been established respectively for five provinces and two companies, including Jilin, Shandong, Hubei, Guangdong, Sichuan, China Nonferrous Mining Group Co., Ltd. and China National Gold Group Co., Ltd. The inspection teams will station for 1 month.

The teams will mainly inspect the provincial environmental protection decision-making and deployment, the implementation and accountability of ecological environmental protection responsibilities, and the implementation of national ecological environmental protection laws and regulations, policy measures, and planned standards.

Focus will be on the environmental protection implementation in the Yangtze River Economic Belt, the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin. The carbon peaking and neutralisation deployment will also be supervised. The blind cut on the projects with high energy consumption and high emissions will be strictly controlled, and the production capacity reduction will be reviewed.

In the five provinces, the inspection teams will also pay key attention to the rectification of prominent ecological and environmental issues reported by the people. For the enterprises, the rectification of issues exposed by the central media and the construction and operation of long-term mechanisms for ecological environmental protection will be the focus as well.

During the stationing period, each inspection team will set up contact numbers and post office boxes to receive the reports regarding ecological and environmental issues.
