SHANGHAI, Aug 19 (SMM) - Prices of battery-grade nickel sulphate had no obvious fluctuations this week. The supply was scarce, and the consumption had not peaked. Upstream quotations remained high.
Downstream users were less willing to purchase at high prices, and the inquiry prices of some precursor manufacturers fell to 37,000 yuan/mt.
The current demand for high-grade nickel ternary batteries is poor. Although the precursor production is highly scheduled, the adjusted ratio of high-grade nickel has caused the expected consumption of nickel sulphate to decline.
The premiums of nickel briquette remained stable at 800-1,000 yuan/mt this week, and the quotation coefficient of the intermediate products also declined. Prices of nickel sulphate may weaken after the purchase gradually rises next week.
