According to the statistical analysis of customs export data, from January to June 2021, China's lithium-ion battery exports reached 11.469 billion US dollars, an increase of 83.31 percent over the same period last year; the number of exports reached 1.392 billion, an increase of 66.49 percent over the same period last year.
Among them, the top 10 export destinations were the United States, Germany, Vietnam, South Korea, Hong Kong, China, Japan, the Netherlands, Spain, India and Slovakia, with a total export volume of US $8.703 billion, accounting for 75.88 per cent of the total exports from January to June 2021.
At the end of last month, the Electronic Information Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced that according to estimates by industry associations and research institutions, the national output of lithium-ion batteries in the first half of the year exceeded 110 GWH, an increase of more than 60 percent over the same period last year. The output of upstream cathode materials, anode materials, diaphragms and electrolytes were 450000 tons, 350000 tons, 3.4 billion square meters and 130000 tons respectively, an increase of more than 130 percent. The total output value of the industry in the first half of the year exceeded 240 billion yuan. Product exports increased sharply, with lithium-ion battery exports totaling 74.3 billion yuan in the first half of the year, up nearly 70 percent from a year earlier, according to customs data.
In terms of new energy vehicles, according to information released by the Transportation Administration of the Ministry of Public Security, as of the end of June, the number of new energy vehicles nationwide reached 6.03 million, accounting for 2.06 percent of the total. In addition, according to the data released by the China Automobile Association, in the first half of the year, the production and sales of new energy vehicles in China completed 1.215 million and 1.206 million respectively, an increase of two times over the same period last year. From January to July, the cumulative production and sales of new energy vehicles in China has exceeded the number of domestic new energy vehicles for the whole year, and the penetration rate continues to rise to 10%.
In addition, according to the incomplete statistics of Battery Network, in the first half of this year, the battery new energy industry chain company was also accelerating its fast run in many aspects, such as investment and expansion, start production, mergers and acquisitions, company orders, sprint for IPO, and so on.
In terms of investment and production expansion, in the first half of the year, without counting IPO fund-raising and investment projects such as new energy vehicles, new energy vehicle parts and rechargeable infrastructure, there were as many as 123 investment projects in the battery new energy industry chain, with a total investment of 573.45 billion yuan, and the number and scale of investment expansion projects greatly exceeded that of the whole of last year.
In terms of starting and putting into production, in the first half of the year, the battery new energy industry started 36 projects, of which 35 projects announced the amount of investment, with a total investment of more than 261.3 billion yuan, with an average investment of about 7.5 billion yuan per project.
In terms of mergers and acquisitions, in the first half of the year, there were 20 cases of mergers and acquisitions in the battery new energy industry, with a total transaction amount of about 16.145 billion yuan, with an average transaction amount of 807 million yuan. Among them, there are 3 lithium batteries (including battery leasing and modules), 9 battery materials and 8 battery raw materials.
In terms of company orders, in the first half of the year, 27 battery new energy industry chain companies announced large orders, including 8 companies in the field of lithium batteries, 7 companies in the field of battery materials, and 12 companies in lithium battery equipment.
In terms of sprint IPO, according to incomplete statistics of Battery Network, from the beginning of this year to the beginning of July, there were 31 newly listed companies and IPO companies in the field of battery new energy, with a total amount of 73.543 billion yuan to be raised, with an average fund-raising amount of 2.372 billion yuan. Moreover, with the gradual and comprehensive promotion of the registration system reform, more than half of the companies target listing plates are Science and Technology Innovation Board and gem.
