Pilbara, Australia's leading lithium mine, updated the results of its first auction of spodumene concentrate to the market through its battery material exchange (BMX).
As previously told the market, the auction attracted wide attention in the market, with 17 bidders participating in the auction.
During the three-hour auction window, 62 online bids were held, ranging from US $700m / Mt to US $1250 / Mt FOB Hedland for 10000 metric tons of spodumene concentrate (SC 5.5 per cent) produced by Pilgangoora.
In the end, Pilbara accepted the highest offer of US $1250 per metric ton FOB Hedland, plus 65 freight of 1315 USD/t (CIF China), an all-time high. According to the terms of the auction, bidders are now required to sign a sales contract with the company within the next few days, requiring the submission of a letter of credit. Shipment is expected in late August.
So far, the results of the online auction process are very much in line with Pilbara Minerals's expectations, and the company has reached a wide range of buyers through new BMX sales channels.
According to public data, Pilbara Mining is the leading pure lithium company listed on the Australian Stock Exchange, with 100% of the world's largest independent hard rock lithium business. Located in the resource-rich Pilbara region of Western Australia, Pilgangula projects and operates the production of spodumene and tantalum concentrate. The huge scale and outstanding quality of the company's operations have attracted a number of high-quality global partners, including Ganfeng Lithium, General Lithium, Great Wall Motor, Posco, CATL and Yibin Tianyi.
While continuing to provide low-cost, high-quality spodumene to the market, Pilbara Minerals is pursuing a growth and diversification strategy to become a sustainable, low-cost lithium producer and fully integrated supplier of lithium raw materials and chemicals in the coming years.
By implementing this strategy, Pilbara Mining will become a major player in the fast-growing lithium supply chain, with increasing demand for clean energy technologies such as electric vehicles and energy storage as the world pursues a sustainable energy future.
