NEV Sales Up 181.7% YoY, BYD as Best Seller

Sales of NEVs recorded 217,900 units in June, up 181.7% on the year and 22.8% on the month, achieving positive growth for the second consecutive month.

SHANGHAI, Jul 29 (SMM) - Sales of NEVs recorded 217,900 units in June, up 181.7% on the year and 22.8% on the month, achieving positive growth for the second consecutive month.

Sales of NEVs stood at 217,900 units in June, up 30,000 units from March and almost flat from 2020. Sales rose in Q2 and are expected to trend higher in Q3 amid the policy of promoting NEVs to enter rural area and launch of Model Y Standard Range and Xiaopeng G3.

BYD sales recorded 35,300 units in June, up 44% on the month, becoming the Champion Sales again since April 2020, mainly due to outstanding performance of  its new hybrid models BYD Qin Plus and Song Plus. Model Y Standard Range is about to be launched, leading a slight decline in sales, but Model 3 has get rid of the brake accident impact.

Tesla sold 28,500 units, up 22% month on month. Sales of Great Wall Motor fell sharply amid the shortage of chips, but rebounded at the end of June. Li Auto sold 7,858 units in June, up 62% on the month, due to improvement of styling and rising demand.

The project covers a total area of 363 mu with a total investment of 3.135 billion yuan. It will be constructed in two phases, each with a capacity of 100,000 tons. Construction of the first phase, the annual 100,000-ton lithium iron phosphate production line, began in April 2024 and has officially commenced production after over a year of construction.
