Statistics Bureau: total retail sales of consumer goods increased by 12.1% in June compared with 10.0% in June 2019.

In June, retail sales of consumer goods totaled 3.7586 trillion yuan, an increase of 12.1 percent over the same period last year; an increase of 10.0 percent over June 2019, with an average two-year growth rate of 4.9 percent. Of this total, retail sales of consumer goods other than automobiles totaled 3.3719 trillion yuan, up 13.1%. After deducting the price factor, the total volume of retail sales of consumer goods in June 2021 increased by 9.8% in real terms, with an average growth rate of 3.2% in two years. On a month-on-month basis, total retail sales of consumer goods increased by 0.7% in June.

From January to June, retail sales of consumer goods totaled 21.1904 trillion yuan, an increase of 23.0 percent over the same period last year, with an average two-year growth rate of 4.4 percent. Of this total, retail sales of consumer goods other than cars totaled 18.9997 trillion yuan, an increase of 22.2%.

According to the location of the business unit, in June, retail sales of consumer goods in cities and towns totaled 3.2552 trillion yuan, up 12.0 percent over the same period last year, with an average growth of 4.8 percent in two years, while retail sales of rural consumer goods totaled 503.4 billion yuan, up 12.5 percent, with an average increase of 5.5 percent in two years. From January to June, retail sales of consumer goods in cities and towns totaled 18.4098 trillion yuan, an increase of 23.3 percent over the same period last year, with an average increase of 4.4 percent in two years, while retail sales of rural consumer goods totaled 2.7807 trillion yuan, up 21.4 percent, with an average growth of 4.0 percent in two years.

According to the type of consumption, in June, retail sales totaled 3.3663 trillion yuan, an increase of 11.2 percent over the same period last year, with an average growth of 5.4 percent in two years; and catering income was 392.3 billion yuan, an increase of 20.2 percent, with an average growth of 1.0 percent in two years. From January to June, retail sales totaled 19.0192 trillion yuan, an increase of 20.6 percent over the same period last year, with an average growth of 4.9 percent over the same period last year. Catering revenue was 2.1712 trillion yuan, up 48.6 percent, basically the same scale as in the first six months of 2019.

According to the retail sector, from January to June, the retail sales of supermarkets, convenience stores, department stores, professional stores and specialty stores in retail units above the limit increased by 6.2%, 17.4%, 29.5%, 24.6% and 32.4% respectively compared with the same period last year.

From January to June, the country's online retail sales totaled 6.1133 trillion yuan, an increase of 23.2 percent over the same period last year, with an average growth rate of 15.0 percent in two years. Among them, the online retail sales of physical goods totaled 5.0263 trillion yuan, up 18.7 percent, with an average growth of 16.5 percent in two years, accounting for 23.7 percent of the total retail sales of consumer goods. Food, clothing and consumer goods increased by 23.5%, 24.1% and 16.7% respectively, with an average increase of 30.9%, 9.8% and 17.0% in two years.
