Dongfeng Motor: Zhixin semiconductor IGBT module has been put into production with a total planned production capacity of 1.2 million units.

Published: Jul 8, 2021 08:15

On July 7, according to the official account of "Dongfeng Automobile" Wechat, the Zhixin semiconductor IGBT module of Dongfeng Group was officially put into production today.

It is reported that the total planned production capacity of the project is 1.2 million, meeting the IGBT demand of 1 million new energy vehicles sold by Dongfeng Group by 2025; the first phase will achieve the packaging capacity of 300000 all-car specification-class modules per year, and build a power semiconductor industrialization base.

In order to solve the problem of "sticking neck" of power semiconductor devices, in June 2019, Dongfeng Company and two major central enterprises of CRRC established Zhixin Semiconductor Co., Ltd. in Wuhan, which aims to achieve independent control of the core resources of IGBT, support Dongfeng's transformation from manufacturing enterprises to "excellent science and technology enterprises that provide users with quality automotive products and services", and implement the "Dongfeng" plan and the "transition action" of scientific and technological innovation.

With the joint efforts of both sides, in only two years, the automobile power semiconductor production line based on the international first-class sixth-generation IGBT technology was completed in Dongfeng New Energy Automobile Industry Park No. 1, and the first batch of products were officially off the line. "the commissioning of Zhixin semiconductor IGBT module marks the successful structural upgrading of Dongfeng components products, and also marks another important step for Dongfeng to independently control the key core technology resources of new energy vehicles." Zhu Yanfeng, chairman of Dongfeng Company, said.

According to reports, the IGBT module put into production has good heat dissipation and anti-electromagnetic interference, can meet the high reliability requirements of vehicle specification-level products, and has great market potential.

Silicon Metal Market Review for January and Outlook for February
In January, the silicon metal market experienced a relatively loose supply-demand balance, with a theoretical inventory buildup of approximately 30,000 mt. In February, both supply and demand contracted simultaneously, and the market is expected to show a tight balance or minor destocking. The current high industry inventory still requires time to be digested, and the sustainability of destocking remains a key variable affecting price trends and market sentiment.

A plant in northern China is calling for bids for indium ingots and bismuth ingots
SMM, February 6 - According to SMM’s investigation of market information, a large smelter in northern China began public bidding for a certain quantity of indium ingots and bismuth ingots starting yesterday. Market sources indicate that the starting price for these indium ingots exceeds 4,000 yuan per kilogram, while the starting price for bismuth ingots is above 150,000 yuan per ton. The bidding results are expected to be announced before the Spring Festival. Market participants note that, given the clear trend of sluggish trading activity ahead of the Spring Festival, the timing of this bidding is not ideal. However, the relatively favorable starting prices have generated considerable market anticipation for the outcome of the bidding.
