(Plus), a self-driving truck start-up company, announced that Lynn Miller, a top lawyer for Tesla, has left to join the company as general counsel, foreign media reported.

Miller's profile on LinkedIn shows that she worked at Tesla for seven years and was deputy general counsel for the company's litigation, regulatory and privacy team before leaving. Prior to Tesla, she served as a senior litigation manager at Apple for more than 10 years. In 2016, Miller won a major lawsuit questioning the safety of Tesla Model S, Law.com reported.

At a time when Tesla faces new lawsuits and an ongoing federal investigation, further adjustments at the top of the company's legal department could be challenging. Previously, Al Prescott, a long-time legal vice president and acting general counsel in Tesla, also left Tesla in April this year to join lidar startup Luminar. Between 2018 and 2019, Tesla lost a total of three general counsel.

Tesla also has ambitions for heavy vehicles and self-driving systems. However, Jerome Guillen, the former president of Tesla's heavy truck division, also recently resigned, and people began to question whether and when Tesla would be able to produce the all-electric Semi it first demonstrated in 2017. In March, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that the tight battery supply made it difficult for Semi to produce on a large scale, but he expected the situation to be less severe next year.

Founded in 2016, Zhiga Technology is following in the future of Tucson, another self-driving truck start-up that is already listed on NASDAQ, which recently agreed to acquire Hennessy Capital Investment Corp. with a special purpose. Merge and go public.

Zhijia Technology is headquartered in Cupertino, California, USA, and has a research and development office in China. The company has said it expects to raise $500m through a merger with a special purpose buyout company. The money will help the company develop and commercialize driverless truck technology.

Zhijia also announced that it has hired a number of senior executives at the vice president level, including Chuck Joseph from Amazon Transportation Services, Lori Heino-Royer from Daimler North American truck Company and Wiley Deck from the U.S. Department of Transportation.
