[last year, global shipments of small soft packs of lithium-ion batteries exceeded 9.6 billion in 2025.] according to the white paper, global shipments of small soft packs of lithium-ion batteries reached 5.52 billion in 2020, an increase of 19.2% over the same period last year. Looking forward to 2025, EVTank predicts that global shipments of small soft packs of lithium-ion batteries will reach more than 9.6 billion.

Recently, research institutions EVTank, Ivy Economic Research Institute and China Battery Industry Research Institute jointly released the White Paper on the Development of China's small soft package Lithium Ion Battery Industry (2021). According to the white paper, global shipments of small soft packs of lithium-ion batteries reached 5.52 billion in 2020, an increase of 19.2% over the same period last year. The white paper analyzes that the increase in shipments of lithium-ion batteries in small packages is mainly due to the significant growth in shipments in traditional applications such as laptops and tablets in 2020, as well as the rapid growth in shipments in emerging applications such as TWS, drones and e-cigarettes. Shipments of lithium-ion batteries in small packages have doubled, especially in TWS and drones. Looking forward to 2025, EVTank predicts that global shipments of small soft packs of lithium-ion batteries will reach more than 9.6 billion. From the perspective of market scale, in 2020, the global market scale of small soft package lithium-ion batteries exceeded 100 billion yuan for the first time, reaching 106.03 billion yuan.

From the perspective of the competitive landscape, according to the White Paper on the Development of China's small soft package Lithium Ion Battery Industry (2021) issued by EVTank, ATL, a Japanese company in China, ranks first with 25.9 per cent market share, far surpassing South Korean companies SDI and LGES, Zhuhai Guanyu ranked fourth with 4.4 per cent market share. But a large number of small and medium-sized enterprises in China account for 44.2% of the rest of the market.

Wu Hui, general manager of the research department of the Yiwei Economic Research Institute and president of the China Battery Industry Research Institute, said that with the gradual development of downstream consumer electronics in the direction of lightweight and intelligent, there are more requirements for small soft bag batteries, such as lightweight, miniaturization, high safety, high energy density, fast charging and so on. Especially with the rise of more smart wearable devices, including smartwatches, smart bracelets, smart glasses, AR/VR and other devices are gradually replacing the traditional terminal, as the shape of the new generation of products is gradually irregular, it puts forward more requirements for the shape of lithium-ion batteries, including drilling, slotting, steps, slotting, chamfering and other shapes and processes of batteries will be gradually applied to the downstream field. Therefore, it will put forward more requirements for the shape, design and process of the small soft package battery. Wu Hui predicts that the application proportion of lamination technology in small flexible package batteries, especially in special-shaped batteries, will gradually increase in the future.

In the White Paper on the Development of China's small soft-pack Lithium-ion Battery Industry (2021), the basic attributes and industrial chain of small soft-pack lithium-ion batteries, the overall shipments and market scale of small soft-pack batteries, the competition pattern of different regions and different enterprises, including mobile phones, tablet computers, notebooks, wearable devices, drones, e-cigarettes and other major application areas, Upstream key raw materials aluminum plastic film, TOP 10 small soft pack battery enterprise calibration analysis, soft package battery industry future market and technology development trend to do in-depth research and analysis. The global small soft pack lithium-ion battery companies mentioned in the White Paper on the Development of China's small soft package Lithium-ion Battery Industry (2021) include ATL, SDI, LGES, Zhuhai Guanyu, Murata, Tianjin Lishen, Yiwei Lithium Energy, Liwei, BYD, Zhongshan Tianmao, Zijian Electronics, Hengtai Technology, Weike Technology, Ganfeng Electronics, Bic, Penghui and other companies.
