SHANGHAI, Jun 3 (SMM) – On domestic supply, industrial power consumption in Inner Mongolia increased 750 million kWh in April. Small RKEFs of below 25,000 Kva remained closed, but ferroalloy producers using medium scale and large scale RKEFs are expected to increase production.
Domestic high-carbon ferrochrome output was 465,000 mt in April 2021, an increase of 2.65% month-on-month and 21.79% year-on-year. The cumulative output from January to April was 1.8 million mt, an increase of 16.27% year-on-year. Output of high-carbon ferrochrome in Inner Mongolia was 246,500 mt, an increase of 13.74% from the previous month; Shanxi continued to increase production for three consecutive months. 11 RKEF manufacturers in started trial production in March and yielded ferrochrome in April.
Output in Shanxi is expected to increase 5,000-7,000 mt in May. Production in Guangxi dropped noticeably, with monthly output of 29,400 mt, a decrease of 28.81% from the previous month. Shortages of industrial power in many areas of Guangxi, especially in Baise, led to direct suspension of production at many manufacturers in mid April, and producers were closed in May.
Ulanqab issued notice of staggered power use at CST 16:50 on May 13 due to power shortages. Users need to control power use according to requirements in the notice, and the remaining users need to control 20% of the existing load. All users are requested to execute it immediately. Over 35 ferrochrome companies are involved.
