[Nissan and Stellantis plan to suspend production in Mexico due to chip shortage] according to foreign media reports, Nissan said on May 28th that it would adjust its production plan due to chip shortage. Three of the company's factories in Mexico will be shut down for several days in June, with an unknown date. In June, Nissan's No. 1 plant in Aguascalientes (Aguascalientas) will be closed for seven days, while No. 2 plant will be closed for one day.

According to foreign media reports, Nissan said on May 28 that it would adjust its production plan due to the shortage of chips. Three of the company's factories in Mexico will be shut down for several days in June, with an unknown date.

In June, Nissan's No. 1 plant in Aguascalientes (Aguascalientas) will be closed for seven days, while No. 2 plant will be closed for one day. The company did not specify that production would be suspended on those days. Factory 1 of Aguascalientes is responsible for assembling Nissan's Versa, Kicks and March models, while Plant 2 is responsible for assembling Sentra models.

In addition, the company announced that its Cuenavaca (Cuernavaca) plant in Morelos would be shut down for seven days in June, and the company also did not specify when it would suspend production. One production line at the Kuenahuaca factory assembles Versa, and the other produces NV200 trucks and pick-up trucks, including Frontier.

"in order to minimize the impact on the local and global automotive industry, we will continue to adjust the production process," the company said in a statement. " The company said it would try to make up for the production loss caused by the shutdown. Nissan was Mexico's second-largest car assembler after GM in the first four months of this year, according to INEGI, Mexico's national statistics agency.

In addition, Stellantis announced on May 28th that it would suspend production at its (Toluca) plant in Toluca, Mexico, for the week of June 7 due to chip shortages. The plant produces Dodge Journey, Fiat Freemont and Jeep Compass models.
