Secondary lead smelters operating rates extended gains this week

Operating rates across licensed smelters of secondary lead in Jiangsu, Anhui, Henan and Guizhou rose 2.89 percentage points from a week ago to 60.41% as of May 28, showed an SMM survey.

SHANGHAI, May 28 (SMM) – Operating rates across licensed smelters of secondary lead in Jiangsu, Anhui, Henan and Guizhou rose 2.89 percentage points from a week ago to 60.41% as of May 28, showed an SMM survey.

Anhui Dahua and Camel recovered from maintenance this week, which lifted local operating rates by 3.82 percentage points to 68.58%. Jiangsu New Chunxing also returned to normal production this week.

Some smelters in Jiangxi which was affected by environmental restrictions previously will recover to normal production next week, and secondary lead output is likely to rise further.

The mainstream spot order ex-factory prices including tax narrowed the discount to the SMM #1 lead average price by 100 yuan/mt, shifting to a premium of 0–25 yuan/mt, with some smelters halting offers and sales.
