According to the latest report of semiconductor analysis agency IC Insights, the semiconductor revenue of TOP15 semiconductor factories around the world totaled US $101.863 billion in the first quarter of this year, an increase of 21% over the same period last year.
From the perspective of countries and regions, eight TOP15 manufacturers are headquartered in the United States, two in South Korea, two in Taiwan and Europe, and one in Japan.
In addition, the ranking includes six fabless companies (Qualcomm, Broadcom, Nvidia, MediaTek, AMD and Apple) and one pure wafer foundry, TSMC.
In terms of vendor rankings, Intel is firmly in the leading position with revenue of $18.676 billion, Samsung ranks second with $16.152 billion, and TSMC ranks third with revenue of $12.911 billion.
It is worth mentioning that there are two new entrants to the list, MediaTek and AMD, which replaced Hayes and Sony in the same period last year.
Driven by the continuous growth in shipments of 5G mobile phone chips, MediaTek's revenue in the first quarter reached 3.849 billion US dollars, surpassing Infineon (Infineon), Italian and French semiconductor (ST) and other manufacturers to become the 10th largest semiconductor factory in the world, ranking 16th compared with the same period last year.
AMD's sales grew 93% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2021, the highest growth rate in TOP15, rising seven places to 11th in the ranking. In addition, the company expects its full-year sales to grow by about 50% in 2021.
