With the rapid development of new energy industry, the demand for lithium salt is growing explosively. In order to get rid of the high dependence on overseas spodumene supply as soon as possible, it is urgent to enrich the supply channels of raw materials for lithium salt production. The agency believes that extracting lithium from salt lakes is expected to become the cornerstone of the global lithium supply.
So what is the application of domestic salt lake lithium extraction technology at the present stage?
China is rich in lithium salt lake resources, with salt lake brine water resources accounting for 90%, mainly concentrated in Qinghai and Tibet. However, due to the poor quality of salt lake resources, complex composition, harsh production environment and other factors, the degree of development of domestic salt lake resources is low. Under the logic of price increase and demand, the agency believes that the development potential of lithium extraction from domestic salt lakes is huge, and the release of output scale is just around the corner.
First, after more than 20 years of exploration, China has gradually developed a lithium extraction process suitable for salt lakes with high mg-Li ratio. At present, the main salt lakes, such as Chaerhan (adsorption), Dongtai (electrodialysis), Xitai (temporary use of calcination method) and Yili Ping (membrane separation), have found processes suitable for their own brine characteristics. Second, the continuous optimization of technology and technology leads to a continuous decline in costs, the economic benefits of production are prominent, and the high prosperity of the superimposed new energy industry attracts a large amount of capital, which is expected to promote the formation of mature industrial clusters in the Qinghai-Tibet Salt Lake area.
Stone Forest, a researcher at Huaan Securities, said that in the future, the technical research on lithium extraction from salt lake will mainly focus on optimizing the front-end lithium extraction capacity and the back-end lithium salt production. It is suggested that attention should be paid to the electrochemical de-intercalation method of lithium industry in Central and South China, the improved adsorption method of Jiuwo Hi-Tech, and the bipolar membrane electrodialysis method used in the field of lithium hydroxide production.
