Daily crude steel output at CISA key mills rose 3.25% in late April

The China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) reported that crude steel output across major mills in China averaged 2.4 million mt per day in the last ten days of April, up 3.25% from mid-April and up 19.27% from the same period a year ago.

SHANGHAI, May 11 (SMM) – China's steel production increased moderately in late April.

The China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) reported that crude steel output across major mills in China averaged 2.4 million mt per day in the last ten days of April, up 3.25% from mid-April and up 19.27% from the same period a year ago.

Average daily production of pig iron across those mills rose 1.69% from mid-April to 2.02 million mt in late April, and that of steel products rose 11.47% to 2.47 million mt.

As of April 30, inventories of steel products across those mills stood at 13.41 million mt, down 2.5 million mt from mid-April. The stocks were 1.3 million mt, or 8.79% lower than the end of last month. The stocks were 1.79 million mt, or 15.43% higher than the beginning of the year, and were 1.31 million mt, or 8.92% lower than the same period last year.
