Daily crude steel output at CISA key mills rose 2.21% in mid-April

The China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) reported that crude steel output across major mills in China averaged 2.32 million mt per day in the second ten days of April, up 2.21% from early April and up 19.1% from the same period a year ago.

SHANGHAI, May 11 (SMM) – China's steel production increased moderately in mid-April.

The China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) reported that crude steel output across major mills in China averaged 2.32 million mt per day in the second ten days of April, up 2.21% from early April and up 19.1% from the same period a year ago.

Average daily production of pig iron across those mills rose 1.33% from early April to 1.97 million mt in mid-April, and that of steel products rose 1.04% to 2.15 million mt.

As of April 20, inventories of steel products across those mills stood at 15.91 million mt, up 413,800 mt from early April. The stocks were 1.2 million mt, or 8.18% higher than the end of last month. The stocks were 428.84 million mt, or 36.9% higher than the beginning of the year, and were 1.51 million mt, or 8.67% lower than the same period last year.
