[GM expects to launch personal self-driving vehicles by 2030] GM CEO Mariborah (Mary Barra) expects the company to provide self-driving cars to consumers by 2030, according to foreign media. "I believe we will launch more later in this decade, and I believe we will launch self-driving cars for individual consumers," Bora told investors on a first-quarter earnings call on May 5. "

GM CEO Marie Bora (Mary Barra) expects the company to provide self-driving cars to consumers by 2030, according to foreign media.

"I believe we will launch more later in this decade, and I believe we will launch self-driving cars for individual consumers," Bora told investors on a first-quarter earnings call on May 5. "

Bora did not make it clear that GM would sell self-driving cars directly to consumers, and the company could rent to consumers or provide customers with car subscriptions, as Cadillac has done before. A GM spokesman said the company could not disclose more information at this time.

In January, GM's Cadillac just unveiled a personal self-driving concept car based on Cruise's Orgin, GM's majority-owned self-driving subsidiary.

In terms of automation, GM has two systems, and Cruise is one of them, which is responsible for leading the development of fully self-driving cars. In addition, GM plans to use its Super Cruise advanced driving assistance system on 22 models by 2023, which aims to get rid of autopilot in 95 per cent of cases.

The car industry now realizes that commercial self-driving is much more difficult than people expected a few years ago. In 2018, GM announced plans to launch a self-driving car-hailing service in 2019, which will not be equipped with steering wheels and pedals. But the company later announced that it would postpone the plan indefinitely. Last year, GM also confirmed plans for a system called Ultra Cruise, but the company has not released details of the new technology.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk (Elon Musk) said in April 2019 that Tesla would deliver a car without a steering wheel within two years, but until now, the company has not given an update on the plan. Tesla didn't respond to a request for comment.
