Ministry of Industry and Information Technology: China's lithium-ion battery output in the first quarter was 4.79 billion, up 52.8% from the same period last year.

On April 29, the Consumer goods Industry Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology sorted out the economic operation of China's battery industry from January to March this year according to the data of the China Light Industry Information Center. Data show that in the first quarter, among the main products of the national battery manufacturing industry, the output of lithium-ion batteries was 4.79 billion, an increase of 83.4 percent over the same period last year; the output of lead-acid batteries was 64.902 million kilovolts, an increase of 46.5 percent over the same period last year; and the output of primary batteries and primary battery packs (non-buckle type) was 10.05 billion, an increase of 33.0 percent over the same period last year.

Among them, in March, the national output of lithium-ion batteries was 1.93 billion, an increase of 52.8 percent over the same period last year; the output of lead-acid batteries was 25.435 million kilovolt amperes, an increase of 18.4 percent over the same period last year; and the output of primary batteries and primary battery packs (non-buckle type) was 3.89 billion, an increase of 8.6 percent over the same period last year.

In terms of efficiency, in the first quarter, the operating income of battery manufacturing enterprises above the national scale was 223.91 billion yuan, an increase of 73.3% over the same period last year, and the total profit was 13.12 billion yuan, an increase of 420.2% over the same period last year.

According to data from the China Automobile Association, in the first quarter of this year, China's power battery output reached 32.8 GWh, an increase of 296.5 percent over the same period last year; sales reached 23.9 GWh, an increase of 201.0 percent; and the number of vehicles loaded reached 23.2GWh, an increase of 308.7 percent over the same period last year.

On the international front, according to SNE Research data, the global power battery usage in the first quarter was 47.8GWH, up 127.6 per cent from the same period last year.
