(STMicroelectronics), one of the world's largest semiconductor companies, unveiled the three-axis linear accelerometer AIS2IH, with higher resolution, temperature stability and mechanical stability for use in unsafe automotive applications, including anti-theft, remote information processing, infoentertainment, tilt / tilt measurement and vehicle navigation. In addition, the product paves the way for high-performance applications in the automotive, medical and industrial fields.

With STMicroelectronics' leading position in micro-electromechanical systems (Micro-Electro-Mechanical System,MEMS) and automotive technology, AIS2IH offers market-leading reliability while providing high-performance motion sensing in the operating temperature range from minus 40 °C to 115 °C. In addition, the accelerometer uses a compact LGA-12 terrestrial grid array package, ultra-low power consumption and ultra-competitive price.

The product has five different operating modes, including one high-performance mode (HPM) and four low-power mode (LPM), that can be switched anytime, anywhere, to optimize resolution and power consumption to meet the exact needs of the application.

In summary, thanks to its extended operating temperature range, enhanced performance and cost-effectiveness, AIS2IH can be used in emerging automotive applications such as digital driving recorders, driver monitoring, vertical level sensors in vehicle suspensions and door automation. In addition, the sensor is suitable for industrial Internet of things (industrial IoT,IIoT) applications that require ultra-low power consumption, compact size, high resolution and high reliability, such as 5G smart antennas and pacemakers.

The AIS2IH has a user-selectable full range of ±2g, ±4g, ±8g and ±16g, and can measure acceleration at the output data rate from 1.6Hz to 1.6kHz (ODR), with embedded configurable digital low-pass and high-pass filters. When operating in high performance mode, the typical noise density is 90 μ g / Hz. At the frequency of 1.6 V, the 3V working current of HPM is 110 μ A, and the working current of LPM is 0.67 μ A. Embedded 32-level FIFO and motion and activity detection features keep system-level power consumption at a low level. AIS2IH is now AEC-Q100 certified and is packaged in 2mm x 2mm LGA with wettable sides to produce samples.
