Production of bauxite mines is reported to have resumed after the rainy season for, Metro Mining Limited in northern Australia. Simon Fennis (Simon Finniss), managing director of Metro Mining, said that the bauxite market was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, and the company aims to produce and supply about 2.3 million tons of wet bauxite in the near future.
'The trade situation in the entire Chinese aluminum supply chain has stabilized and we expect a stable improvement in 2021, which we hope will have a positive impact on demand and prices for bauxite, 'Mr. Fennis said. Fennis also said that negotiations are under way on a long-term contract that, if successful, will begin for five years in 2022.
Metro Mining is negotiating further spot and long-term off-take agreements to ensure smooth operation of the bauxite mine in 2021 and plans to expand production to 6 million tons of wet bauxite per year.
