SHANGHAI, Apr 20 (SMM) — Domestic installed capacity of motive power battery was 9.0GWH  in March, up 224.8% year-on-year and 61.3% month-on-month. The installed capacity of ternary batteries stood at 5.1GWH, up 53.1% on the month, and the installed capacity of LFP batteries stood at 3.9GWH, up 73.7% MoM. The data of installed capacity of motive power battery has risen this month after a continuous decline in January and February. On materials, the market share of LFP batteries has risen for two consecutive months after reaching the low point of 38% in January to 43.2% this month.

Installed capacity of motive power battery companies trended higher. CATL stood at 4.52GWH this month, with a market share of 50.2%, down 5 percentage points from the previous month, followed by BYD, LG Chem, and China Aviation Lithium. Compared with the previous month, the top 7 rankings this month has not changed much, and the competition for eighth and tenth places has become more fierce.

Penghui Power, DFD have achieved the increment in installations this month, both of which have entered the top ten for the first time this year. However, Xingheng Power and Tafel, which were previously on the list, failed to make the list.

ACC Suspends Battery Gigafactory Plans in Italy and Germany Amid Lower EV Demand
European Automotive Battery Company (ACC) has officially announced the suspension of its plans to build battery gigafactories in Italy and Germany. ACC, jointly funded by Stellantis, Mercedes-Benz, and TotalEnergies, was originally expected to enhance the autonomy of the European EV supply chain. However, due to lower-than-expected demand in the EV market, Stellantis recently announced a €22 billion loss and correspondingly scaled back its electrification investments. CEO Antonio Filosa stated that the actual required battery capacity will be significantly lower than initially planned.
