According to BNAmericas, Peru's mineral exports in the first two months of 2021 were $5.229 billion, up 15 per cent from $4.548 billion in the same period last year, according to (SNMPE), a mining oil and energy association.
Of this total, Peru's copper exports totaled US $2.635 billion in the first two months, up 29.7% from US $2.032 billion in the same period in 2020.
Gold exports were $1.386 billion, down 13.2 per cent from $1.597 billion in the same period last year.
In February, Peruvian mineral exports totaled US $2.579 billion, up 14.6 per cent from US $2.251 billion in the same period in 2020.
Copper exports in February were $1.388 billion, up 35.5% from $1.025 billion in the same period last year. Although exports fell 6.6 per cent year-on-year, copper exports rose sharply as copper prices rose 45 per cent year-on-year.
Gold exports in February were $656 million, down 12.4 per cent from $748 million in the same period last year. The main reason was that exports fell by 22.6%, although prices rose 13.2% from a year earlier.
