Shipments of aluminium billet out of warehouses rose 300 mt on the week to 57,100 mt as downstream demand improved.

SHANGHAI, Apr 15 (SMM) –Shipments of aluminium billet out of warehouses rose 300 mt on the week to 57,100 mt as downstream demand improved.
SMM data showed that stocks of 6063 aluminium billet across the five major consumption areas – Foshan, Wuxi, Huzhou, Changzhou and Nanchang – in China dropped 15,800 mt from the previous week to 165,200 mt as of Apr 15. Stocks shrank 8,400 mt in Foshan and 4,500 mt in Wuxi. Aluminium prices continued to fluctuate at high levels this week, and downstream users mainly restocked on demand. Shortages of railway containers in north-west China and rising transportation fees in Guangxi led to declines in aluminium billet arrivals.
Aluminium billet social inventories are likely to fall slightly next week.

【SMM Aluminum Flash News】Hindalco denies suspending aluminum extrusion production, stating a mere force majeure notice.
Hindalco, an aluminum manufacturer under India's Aditya Birla Group, has denied previous reports of a suspension of aluminum extrusion production. The company clarified that the so-called "shutdown" was not an operational interruption, but rather a routine commercial notification to customers regarding a natural gas supply disruption. Hindalco had previously announced on March 11 that it was invoking "force majeure" clauses for all aluminum extrusion customers due to limited natural gas supply. In its statement, Hindalco emphasized that aluminum extrusion represents only a very small portion of the company's total capacity, with a potential impact on less than 0.1% of the company's overall operations.

Indonesian Bauxite Mines to Observe Public Holidays in March 2026, Affecting Operations
[SMM Aluminum Express News] Indonesian bauxite mines generally observe the national public holidays (libur nasional) and collective leave days (cuti bersama) in March 2026, as confirmed by industry players, though exact implementation varies by company policy (e.g., essential operations like maintenance or shifts may continue with adjustments). This creates a potential 7-day extended break (18–24 March), aligning with government SKB (joint ministerial decree) on holidays and cuti bersama for 2026.
