Japanese smelter Mitsubishi materials company (Mitsubishi Materials Corp) estimated on Thursday that it plans to produce 165546 tons of refined copper in the first half of fiscal year 2021122, which begins this month, down 7.7% from 179316 in the same period of the previous fiscal year. Production in the second half of fiscal year 2020 / 21 was 160086 tons. A spokesman for Mitsubishi Materials said copper production fell because the company expected production at the Onahama smelter north of Tokyo to fall 11 per cent because of oxygen supply problems. Refined lead production is expected to be 13350 tons in the first half of fiscal year 2021, up from 12996 tons in the same period in the previous fiscal year, and 12030 tons in the second half of fiscal year 2020. The first half of the country's fiscal year is from April to September.
