SHANGHAI, Mar 30 (SMM) – Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Equipment Centre and other departments held a meeting that set the national standards for low-speed electric vehicles, which are expected to be officially released in September.
Standards and definitions
"Low-speed electric vehicles" will be upgraded to "micro pure electric passenger vehicles", which will be directly included in the standard scope of new energy vehicles, and such vehicles are defined as "powered by storage batteries, 4 seats or less, maximum speed 40-70 km/hour”.
The meeting specifically mentioned that micro low-speed electric vehicles will no longer adopt lead-acid batteries, and will only use lithium iron phosphate and ternary lithium batteries. At the same time, the energy density of battery shall not be less than 70WH/KG.
Vehicle performance requirements
The meeting set requirements on the outline dimensions, collision performance, climbing performance, low temperature starting performance, and reliability of low-speed pure electric passenger vehicles.
