In 2020, China put forward the goal of "carbon neutralization", that is, carbon dioxide emissions strive to reach a peak by 2030 and strive to achieve zero carbon emissions by 2060. In recent years, China's green financial market has developed rapidly. For example, the establishment of a carbon trading market internalizes the externalities of carbon emissions, thus prompting physical companies to produce in a more environmentally friendly way.

Specific to the industry, China has the manufacturing advantages of the whole industry chain of the photovoltaic industry, and the links of silicon materials, wafers, battery wafers and modules rank first in the global market share; the photovoltaic industry has initially achieved parity and reached a new stage of economic development relying on its own economy. there is a broad space for growth. The price of silicon continued to rise last week, with the average price of cauliflower and secret material being 63 yuan / kg and 117 yuan / kg respectively, an increase of 40.6% and 2.56% respectively. While the downstream silicon wafer manufacturers maintain a relatively high operating rate, coupled with the fact that there are still large silicon factories carrying out maintenance in April, silicon prices are expected to remain high.

The Global Energy Internet Development Cooperation Organization released the study on China's 2030 Energy and Power Development Planning and prospects for 2060. It is pointed out that clean energy installation will become the dominant power supply by 2025, and the new power demand from 2025 to 2030 will be met by clean energy. Wind and light installed capacity will reach 540 million and 560 million kilowatts respectively in 2025, and wind and light installed capacity will reach 800 million and 1.025 billion kilowatts respectively in 2030. By 2025, the proportion of clean energy installed in China will reach 57.5%.

For related companies, Longji is the world's largest supplier of monocrystalline silicon wafers and has long been focused on providing efficient single crystal solar power generation solutions to global customers, mainly engaged in the research, development, production and sales of monocrystalline silicon rods, wafers, batteries and modules, photovoltaic power plant development and system solution provision business. Jingao Technology is a leading provider of photovoltaic products in the industry, and has built a whole industry chain including silicon rods / ingots, wafers, solar cells and solar modules, and the operation of solar photovoltaic power stations. It has become one of the leading enterprises in the domestic photovoltaic industry with complete industrial chain and coordinated structural layout.

[SMM Chromium Flash] Potential Valterra-Northam Deal Could Reshape South Africa's Chrome Concentrate Landscape
Northam Platinum said on August 25 that it had received an unsolicited, exploratory and non-binding approach from a major South African platinum group metals (PGM) producer and subsequently initiated a strategic, competitive process to solicit proposals from interested parties. Valterra Platinum is widely understood to be the potential bidder, while Impala Platinum and Sibanye-Stillwater have indicated that they are not interested. Northam has set December 1 as the deadline for interested parties to submit proposals, with any potential transaction potentially taking the form of an asset-level transaction or a corporate transaction. The potential deal also has implications for South Africa's chrome concentrate market, as Northam has rapidly expanded its chrome output from UG2 processing. Northam's FY2026 chrome concentrate production reached a record 1.69 million mt, while its Vision 2031 strategy targets more than 2 million mt of chrome concentrate sales over the next five years. Valterra is also targeting chrome concentrate sales of more than 2 million mt under its growth strategy. A transaction involving the two companies could therefore significantly increase the strategic importance and scale of chrome within a combined PGM portfolio, although the final structure and any impact on chrome production, processing and sales would depend on the outcome of the competitive process.

Production cut benefits materialize as futures and spot trends diverge; silicon metal prices remain in a stalemate [SMM Silicon Industry Weekly Review]
[Production cut benefits materialize, spot and futures diverge, silicon metal prices in stalemate]: This week, spot silicon metal prices consolidated on a strong note. As of September 3, SMM oxygen-blown #553 silicon in east China was at 9,400-9,500 yuan/mt, up 50 yuan/mt WoW, #441 silicon was at 9,500-9,700 yuan/mt, up 50 yuan/mt WoW, and #3303 silicon was at 10,100-10,300 yuan/mt, up 50 yuan/mt WoW. In the futures market, the SI2611 contract moved sideways in the 8,650-8,865 yuan/mt range this week, shot up to 8,865 yuan/mt early in the week before pulling back, and closed at 8,735 yuan/mt on Thursday, down 70 yuan/mt WoW. In terms of market quotes and transactions, after production cuts at large plants in Xinjiang were implemented, silicon enterprises increased their efforts to hold prices firm, low-priced cargoes in the market decreased, silicon enterprises quoted firmly, and some suppliers raised quotes slightly. Affected by long positions taking profits and macro sentiment, silicon metal futures prices pulled back weakly, wait-and-see sentiment in the market intensified, market transactions remained need-based, and the price center consolidated at highs.
