Social inventories of lead ingots across Shanghai, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Tianjin shrank 3,000 mt from last Friday March 19 to 56,300 mt as of March 26. This was down 6,800 mt from Monday March 22.

SHANGHAI, Mar 26 (SMM)—Social inventories of lead ingots across Shanghai, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Tianjin shrank 3,000 mt from last Friday March 19 to 56,300 mt as of March 26. This was down 6,800 mt from Monday March 22.

Some secondary lead smelters in Jiangxi and Anhui started maintenance this week, which drove some downstream users to primary lead. Rising lead prices weighed on downstream procurements, which led to the slower decline in lead social inventories.

Lead social inventories are expected to continue to fall slightly next week as downstream buyers may stockpile cargoes before the Ching Ming holiday and as some primary lead smelters are still under maintenance.

Xiejiagou Lead-Zinc Flotation Plant Completes Ore-Feed Commissioning, Boosting Jinhui Mining's Capacity
It is reported that the Xiejiagou Lead-Zinc Flotation Plant, a core supporting project of Jinhui Mining’s Jiangluo Mine with a designed processing capacity of 1.5 million tonnes per year, recently successfully completed ore-feed commissioning, marking a major milestone in the mine’s capacity development. The flotation plant was specifically constructed to support the Jiangluo Mine’s own mineral resources, with all feedstock sourced from the Xiangyangshan, Xiejiagou, and Yangjiashan lead-zinc mines within the mining area. Once operational, the plant will enable centralized and efficient processing of the mine’s own ore, significantly increasing the company’s ore-processing capacity and beneficiation efficiency while improving the overall utilization of mineral resources.

Boliden to Acquire 64.68% Controlling Stake in Nexa, Strengthening Global Zinc Portfolio
On August 27, Boliden and Votorantim entered into a definitive agreement under which Boliden will acquire Votorantim’s entire 64.68% stake in Nexa through a share-swap transaction valued at approximately $1.31 billion. Following completion, Votorantim will hold around 7.0% of Boliden, while Boliden plans to launch a cash tender offer for Nexa’s remaining publicly held shares. Nexa operates 5 zinc, lead, copper and silver-related mining and 3 smelting assets in Brazil and Peru. The transaction will significantly expand Boliden’s global zinc business and extend its presence into Latin America. Closing remains subject to shareholder and regulatory approvals and is now expected in Q1 2027.
