European aluminum and metal packaging companies have developed a joint road map to achieve 100% recycling of aluminum beverage cans by 2030. Aluminum beverage cans will realize the full potential of aluminum as a leader in circular economy in the next decade.
The roadmap was released at the webinar on the 24th. It is jointly organized by two associations with the participation of more than 200 stakeholders.
Kestutis Sadauskas, Director of Circular economy and Green growth, Environment Directorate of the European Commission, welcomed the initiative: the efforts of the aluminum industry to improve the recyclability of aluminum beverage packaging are commendable. Our goal is that all packaging put on the EU market in 2030 will be recyclable or reusable, and transformative joint efforts must be made. Aluminum as an important resource of recycling and low-carbon economy, we will provide large-scale financial support for investment in the future.
