[E-magy raises 5 million euros in a new round of financing to further develop silicon anode materials] in a new round of financing led by venture capital fund SHIFT Invest, Dutch technology company Regis (RGS) raised 5 million euros to speed up the technology development of E-magy. The co-founder and chief executive of E-magy, which designs and manufactures nanoporous silicon materials for lithium-ion batteries, says nanoporous silicon addresses the urgent need for high-energy batteries and helps build more efficient electric cars that everyone can afford.

According to foreign media reports, Dutch technology company Regis (RGS) has raised 5 million euros in a new round of financing led by venture capital fund SHIFT Invest. (Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy), the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy, has also pledged to provide innovative credit to speed up the technological development of E-magy.

E-magy designs and manufactures nano-porous silicon materials that can be used in lithium-ion batteries. The company works with global automotive supply chain partners. E-magy processes silicon into "nano-sponge" particles, which can be used as silicon anodes. The company says its nanoporous silicon can increase energy density by 40% and shorten charging time.

For E-magy, the entry of new capital will help increase the output of the pilot production line of nano-porous silicon and accelerate its qualification program with automakers and battery manufacturers. The company will also use the money to expand its team and prepare for a new plant in the Netherlands to increase its annual production capacity to thousands of tons per year. E-magy is scheduled to start production at the new plant in 2023.

Casper Peeters, co-founder and CEO of the company, said: "this additional funding comes just in time as we are expanding the production capacity of proprietary nano-porous silicon and working with carmakers and battery manufacturers to improve battery performance. Nano-porous silicon addresses the urgent need for high-energy batteries and helps to build more affordable and more efficient electric vehicles. "
