Inner Mongolia refined zinc smelters to reduce production by 10-20% in Q2

The Development and Reform Commission of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the Department of Industry and Information Technology, and the Energy Bureau have issued the Several Measures to Ensure Control of Energy Consumption recently. Local lead and zinc concentrate mines and refined zinc smelters have been required to control their energy consumption which cannot exceed the level in the same period last year.

SHANGHAI, Mar 17 (SMM)— The Development and Reform Commission of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the Department of Industry and Information Technology, and the Energy Bureau have issued the Several Measures to Ensure Control of Energy Consumption recently. Local lead and zinc concentrate mines and refined zinc smelters have been required to control their energy consumption which cannot exceed the level in the same period last year.

SMM learned that operating rates across refined zinc smelters in Inner Mongolia stood at 90% in Q2 2020, and output stood at about 160,000 mt. This year, smelters are likely to reduce output by 10-20% in Q2.
