[GM suspends production at its Michigan plant due to chip shortages] GM will suspend production at its plant in (Lansing), Lansing, Michigan, due to global chip shortages.

GM will suspend production at its (Lansing) plant in Lansing, Michigan, due to a global shortage of chips.

A GM spokesman confirmed that the Lanxin Dahe assembly plant (Lansing Grand River Assembly) will be shut down from next Monday and will continue until at least the end of this month. The plant employs 1400 workers and is responsible for the production of the Chevrolet Comero (Camaro), and Cadillac CT4 and CT5.

"We will continue to work closely with the supply base to find solutions for suppliers' semiconductor needs and mitigate their impact on GM," GM spokesman Daniel Flores said in a statement.

U.S. Congressman Elissa Slotkin, a Michigan Democrat, responded to GM's shutdown. Slotkin said she spoke with local UAW leaders on March 11 and said UAW told her that the union was working to support factory workers facing wage cuts.

In the past few months, semiconductor supply shortages have forced several carmakers to adjust their production plans, causing headaches for the industry as a whole. Earlier, GM had announced that a number of North American plants had been forced to shut down. Its assembly plants in (Kansas City), Kansas City and Ingersoll (Ingersoll), Ontario, will be shut down from Feb. 8, and all production shifts will be suspended until at least mid-April. In addition, the company's Gravatai (Gravatai) plant in Brazil will be shut down in April and May this year, which could affect the production of Chevrolet Onix models.

But the good news is that GM's (San Luis Potosi Assembly) assembly plant in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, which is responsible for the production of Chevrolet explorer (Equinox), Trax, and GMC Terrain models, will restart production on April 5th. On February 8 this year, the factory began to shut down. GM said it had not taken any shutdown measures at any of the factories responsible for producing full-size pick-up trucks.
