Copper production in Chile fell 0.7% in January

Chile produced 457100 tonnes of copper in January, down 0.7 per cent from a year earlier, according to (Cochilco), Chile's national copper commission.

The production situation of each major copper mining company is different.

(Codelco), the world's largest copper miner, produced 142000 tons in January, up 19.4% from a year earlier.

Copper production at shan Escondida, the world's largest copper mine controlled by BHP Billiton, fell 16.1 per cent to 84700 tonnes.

Koyawasi (Collahuasi), a joint venture between Glencore and Anglo-American, produced 57000 tonnes of copper, an increase of 6.5 per cent.
