[Hydro's bauxite production increased 17% year-on-year to 8.64 million tons in 2020] according to a report released by Hydro, bauxite production increased 17% to 8.64 million tons in 2020 compared with the same period last year. Output in the fourth quarter increased 15% to 2.556 million tons compared with the same period last year, an increase of 119% over the previous month.

According to a report released by Hydro, bauxite production rose 17 per cent year-on-year to 8.64 million tons in 2020. In the fourth quarter, production rose 15 per cent to 2.556 million tons from a year earlier, up 119 per cent from a month earlier; alumina production rose 22 per cent to 5.46 million tons in 2020, and total sales increased 15 per cent to 8.495 million tons. Fourth-quarter production fell 1 per cent from a year earlier to 1.41 million tonnes. The Alunorte alumina plant returned to full capacity at the end of 2020, with annual production of about 87 per cent of capacity; primary aluminum production increased by 3 per cent to 2.09 million tonnes in 2020 compared with the same period last year, and total sales increased by 3 per cent to 2.182 million tonnes. Output in the fourth quarter fell 2 per cent from a year earlier to 532000 tons, up 2 per cent from a month earlier. The B production line of Husnes Aluminum Plant in Norway was restarted in November 2020, and the plant returned to full production.
