Since the release of the 210 silicon wafer, the debate about the size of the silicon wafer has not stopped. On the one hand, large size is conducive to reducing the kilowatt-hour cost of end users, and the direction of evolution to a larger size silicon wafer has been recognized by the market; on the other hand, what size of silicon wafer product is more suitable? the market has formed two different camps: 182 and 210.
Recently, a number of inverter manufacturers issued a statement saying that the inverter adapted to 210 ultra-high power modules has been put on the market; the reporter noted that supporting projects around 210 products, including single crystal furnaces, battery equipment, photovoltaic glass, and so on, are basically complete. The market also expects that the penetration of 210 products is expected to increase this year.
Photovoltaic 210 supply chain is becoming more and more perfect.
From the end of January to early February this year, a number of inverter manufacturers have issued statements announcing that the inverters adapted to 210 ultra-high power components will be put on the market and will enter mass production in March 2021 to ensure the supply of inverters matching 210 ultra-high power modules. and the price is the same as that of other types of inverters.
The reporter combed and found that recently, including Huawei Digital Technology (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., Shangneng Electric, Sunshine Power and other inverter manufacturers have made a similar statement. Huawei said it would mass-produce an inverter (model SUN2000-196KTL-H3) that fully matches 210modules by the end of March, complying with the market in which 210modules are becoming mainstream and further reducing the LCOE of photovoltaic power stations.
Shangneng Electric said that the new series inverter (model SP-250K-H), which has been put on the market, will be fully available in March 2021, matching 210components. Sunshine Power supply said that the existing centralized inverter (model SG3125HV) and series inverter (model: domestic SG225HX; international SG250HX) are fully compatible with 210high current components.
In addition, inverter manufacturers such as Gu Dewei, Jinlang, Costa and SMA have also announced that there are already inverters matching or compatible with 210 high-power components, and are designing and launching new high-current inverters on the market.
The inverter is one of the key equipment in the photovoltaic system, and its function is to convert the direct current generated by the solar cell into alternating current that meets the power quality requirements of Electroweb. In recent years, the inverter market has grown rapidly. According to the data of the first half of 2020, the new installed capacity of global inverter equipment has reached 20GW, an increase of 150% compared with the same period last year.
In August 2019, after China Central launched 210 large silicon wafers, it suddenly increased the size of 156 and 158 silicon wafers which were mainstream at that time by many levels; in fact, the large size of silicon wafers has become a law of the development of the photovoltaic industry. however, the rapid change in wafer size obviously requires the cooperation of all aspects of the industrial chain, such as single crystal furnaces, battery equipment, inverters, glass and other links.
The reason why 210 silicon wafer has the value of existence is that when the silicon wafer becomes larger, there will be "flux effect" and "dumpling skin effect", which can finally reduce the cost of components per watt, which is also in line with the original intention of the new energy industry to continuously reduce the cost of power generation.
In addition to inverters, other aspects of the photovoltaic industry chain are also gradually completing the adaptation of 210products. For example, Aixu said when investing in the construction of Yiwu annual 10GW high-efficiency monocrystalline silicon battery project that the product specifications are fully compatible with sizes 210 and below.
The single crystal furnace is the key equipment in the crystal drawing process, and Jingyun Tong has previously said that it has successfully developed a JD-1600 fully automatic soft-axis single crystal furnace, which can draw monocrystalline silicon rods of 12 inches or less. Among them, 12-inch silicon rods can be used to cut the largest single crystal 210 silicon wafer on the market, at the same time, the company's 210 silicon wafer has also been successfully trial-produced.
The permeability will increase gradually.
As mentioned above, in the past few years, the photovoltaic industry chain is still dominated by 156 and 158 size products, but since the beginning of this year, it has quickly switched to larger sizes such as 166, 182 or even 210. The reporter learned from the industry that 156-size products have been basically eliminated, while the proportion of 158 products has also gradually declined. For 210 products, the market is generally expected to increase the penetration rate this year.
From the wafer end point of view, as the initiator of 210, Central shares recently frequently disclosed 210 wafer shipments. Among them, the monthly shipments of 210 silicon wafers in December last year were about 1.25 GW, accounting for 99.5% of the 210 silicon wafer supply market; in January this year, the planned shipments exceeded 1.4 GW, accounting for 99.5%. In addition, Central also announced 50GW's 210wafer expansion plan.
Other suppliers with 210 silicon wafer production capacity include CNC and Beijing Express. Although the market is worried that there will be overcapacity if the silicon wafer production capacity exceeds 300GW in 2021, from the structural point of view, 210 and other large-sized silicon wafers are still in short supply.
From the perspective of downstream components, the permeability of 210 is also expected to be further improved. Trina Solar is one of the main supporters of 210products and high-power components, and according to its plan, the total battery capacity will reach about 26GW by the end of 2021, of which 210 large-size batteries will account for about 70 per cent by the end of 2021.
In addition, Trina Solar has previously laid out 210 products and launched 600W + "supreme" series of components. The company expects component production capacity of more than 50GW by the end of 2021, of which 210capacity is more than 40GW. Soochow Securities pointed out that large-size early profit to open the market, the late premium is expected to become more significant, for the whole of next year, large-size supply and demand is tight.
In addition, Oriental Sunrise issued a white paper on 210component technology last year, followed by an order from Malaysia, which is dominated by 210. in addition, Dongfang Risheng will form 20GW battery capacity and 30GW module capacity in 2021, of which 210compatible capacity is 13GW and 16GW, respectively.
It is worth mentioning that the 210s are also approved by end-users. Trina Solar announced last month that it would sell about 4GW of 210size photovoltaic modules to NEXTERA ENERGY, which is reported to be one of the top 10 power suppliers in the United States.
