From February 5, 2021, a total of 20428 imported Model S vehicles with production dates from 18 September 2013 to 20 February 2018 are recalled, and 15698 imported Model X vehicles with production dates from 12 March 2016 to 16 February 2018 are recalled.

Some vehicles covered by this recall are loaded with eMMC multimedia memory cards with an industry-standard 3000 programming / erasing cycles, but over time, depending on actual usage, eMMC hardware depletes the life cycle of each storage unit. When the eMMC memory cell hardware reaches the wear and tear of the life limit, the eMMC controller will not be able to maintain the integrity of the file system. This wear and tear situation may lead to the failure of the software function of the central display screen, and may indirectly lead to the failure of reversing image, defrosting / defog control and the failure of external turn signal lighting.

Tesla Automobile (Beijing) Co., Ltd. will upgrade the eMMC multimedia memory card on the recalled vehicle from 8GB to 64GB free of charge by replacing the visual computing module in the central display screen, and ensure that the vehicle is equipped with 2020.48.12 or later software to eliminate security risks.

Battery Network noted that in October last year, Tesla announced a recall of some imported Model S and Model X vehicles, totaling 29193 vehicles, which were manufactured between September 17, 2013 and August 16, 2017. When some vehicles within the scope of this recall undergo a large external impact, the ball head bolts of the rear connecting rod of the front suspension will produce initial cracks, which may extend and cause the ball head bolts to break when the vehicles continue to be used. In extreme cases, the ball head conical seat may extricate from the steering knuckle, affect the control of the vehicle, increase the risk of accidents, and there are hidden dangers.

In addition, Battery Network summed up the information released by the AQSIQ and found that since the beginning of this year, apart from Tesla, there have been three recalls of new energy vehicles in China, involving more than 14000 vehicles, plus the more than 36000 vehicles just announced by Tesla. From January 8, Yunnan Aerospace Shenzhou Automobile Co., Ltd. recalled a total of 192 YH5022XXYBEV pure electric van transporters whose production date was from December 2, 2017 to December 10, 2017. First, the unreasonable wiring of the voltage acquisition line in the battery system box may cause voltage acquisition line damage caused by strip pressing; second, the battery management system control strategy setting is unreasonable, and the charging cut-off voltage is on the high side. In extreme cases, the voltage acquisition line may be short-circuited and the battery pack may be overcharged, causing the battery package to heat out of control, resulting in vehicle fire and safety risks.

On the same day, Aerospace China also announced a recall of some YH5022XXYBEV pure electric van carriers with production dates from October 10, 2017 to December 1, 2017 and July 13, 2018 to December 18, 2018. In the scope of this recall, the vehicle due to unreasonable battery management system control strategy setting, charging cut-off voltage is on the high side, in extreme cases may lead to battery overcharge, resulting in battery package heat out of control, resulting in vehicle fire, there are hidden dangers.

From January 22nd, Dongfeng Yueda Kia Automobile Co., Ltd. recalled a total of 309 KX3 pure electric vehicles produced from October 23, 2018 to March 29, 2019. When the IEB (integrated electronic brake) motor of the vehicle within the scope of the recall outputs abnormal signals, due to the imperfect fault safety countermeasure procedure of the IEB motor control logic, it is unable to control the normal operation of the motor, which may lead to multiple warning lights on the vehicle dashboard and the phenomenon of brake pedal hardening, resulting in the decline of vehicle braking force and the existence of safety risks.

Guangzhou Xiaopeng Automotive Technology Co., Ltd. recalled a total of 13399 Xiaopeng G3 cars produced from March 29, 2019 to September 27, 2020. For the vehicles within the scope of this recall, the tin-plated terminals connected to copper bar screws on the DC bus capacitors of the inverter may cause a short circuit between the positive and negative electrodes of high-voltage DC due to tin whiskers, resulting in no high-voltage supply of the inverter. When this happens, if the vehicle is in a state of parking, it may not be able to start again; if the vehicle is in a state of driving, it may cause the vehicle to lose power and there is a hidden danger to safety.
