On the evening of February 3, GAC GROUP announced the production and marketing of KuaiBao in January 2021. Data show that in January this year, GAC GROUP produced 192000 cars, an increase of 39 percent over the same period last year, an increase of 5.21 percent over the same period in 2019, and sales of 217000 vehicles, an increase of 23.3 percent over the same period last year and 3.64 percent over the same period in 2019.
In terms of car models, GAC GROUP blossomed in January on sedan, SUV and MPV models in an all-round way. In terms of cars, GAC GROUP's sales reached 93290 in January, up 11% from the same period last year, 2.1% from the previous month, up 29.9% from the same period last year, 6.4% from the previous month, 15088 cars from the previous year, up 80.8% from the same period last year, and 1.7% from the previous year.
It is worth mentioning that in January, GAC GROUP sold more than 10,000 models a month, of which three models sold more than 20,000 vehicles a month, namely, 29139 in the Leiling series, 21001 in the colorful wisdom series and 20037 in the Camry series. The other six models with monthly sales of more than 10,000 are: Accord series 19614; Haoying series 16904; Chuanqi GS4 series 14375; Weilanda series 12271; Hanlanda series 11499; YARiS L family 10415.
In terms of Japanese joint ventures, Guangzhou Auto Honda and Guangzhou Auto Toyota have continued their strong performance since last year and continue to make efforts this year. Specifically, Guangzhou Auto Honda produced 63329 vehicles in January, up 37 per cent from a year earlier, while sales reached 77625, up 24.2 per cent from a year earlier. Guangzhou Auto Toyota produced 79778 vehicles in January, up 48.6 percent from the same period last year, and sold 89800 vehicles, up 32.8 percent from the same period last year.
In addition to the overall production and sales continued to climb, the Japanese "two fields" hybrid models also began to force. In January, GAC-Honda hybrid models sold 10348 units, up 47.62% from the same period last year, accounting for 2.1 percentage points to 13.33% of total Guangben sales. GAC-Toyota hybrid models sold 11451 units in January, an increase of 291.35% over the same period last year. The proportion of Guangfeng's total sales increased by 9.5 percentage points to 12.75%. The obvious improvement in the penetration of hybrid models highlights the layout strategy of GAC GROUP's two major Japanese brands for beach-grabbing hybrid tracks.
In terms of independent brands, GAC "Gemini" GAC MOTOR and GAC Ean also achieved good results at the start of 2021. Specifically, GAC MOTOR produced 31339 cars in January, up 21.1 percent from the same period last year; sales reached 34400, up 5.1 percent from the same period last year and 9.3 percent from the previous month. This is the fifth month in a row that GAC MOTOR's sales have exceeded the level of 30, 000 vehicles since September 2020, and is showing a momentum of climbing every month. Of these, the Chuanqi GS4 series sold 14375 vehicles in January, up 35.55% from the previous month; Chuanqi MPV (M6+M8) sold 9455 vehicles a month, up 105% from the same period last year and 161% higher than the same period last year.
GAC Ean, another brand of Gemini, produced 7347 vehicles in January, an increase of 143.7% over the same period last year, and realized sales of 7356 vehicles, an increase of 149.4% over the same period last year. Among them, Aion S sales exceeded 6000 for the first time, an increase of 130.1% over the same period last year, second only to Model 3 in the pure electricity high-end car market.
GAC GROUP said that since the end of 2020, the chain reaction caused by chip supply shortages has continued to spread in the global automobile industry, and GAC GROUP car companies have adopted a variety of measures to reduce supply risk and minimize its impact. According to GAC's 14th five-year Plan, the Group will challenge to achieve the annual production and sales growth target of 10 per cent, or about 2.25 million vehicles, in 2021. Judging from the sales results of 217000 vehicles in January, GAC GROUP has made a good start.
