EGA will supply 43000 tons of solar aluminum to its first customer, BMW.

UAE Global Aluminium, the world's largest "premium aluminum" producer, has announced that it has ensured that BMW is the first customer of its solar CelestiAL aluminum. Under the contract, EGA will supply BMW with 43000 tons of solar-powered aluminum, the first of its kind in the United Arab Emirates.

Solar aluminum using EGA will help BMW reduce its carbon dioxide emissions by about 222000 tons a year.

Since 2013, EGA has been supplying aluminum to BMW for engines and other parts made by German carmakers.

EGA began production using CelestiAL aluminum at the Mohamed Ben Rashid Al-Maktoum Solar Park earlier this month, using 560000 megawatt hours of solar energy a year, and the plant currently has an installed capacity of about 1013 MW, and could eventually reach 5000 MW by 2030.
