SHANGHAI, Jan 28 (SMM) – Shipments of aluminium billet in China decreased 9,400 mt to 36,100 mt this week due to weak downstream demand and sluggish sentiment for receiving goods.
SMM data showed that aluminium billet stocks across the five major consumption areas — Foshan, Wuxi, Huzhou, Changzhou and Nanchang — in China built up 16,400 mt from a week ago to 100,700 mt as of Thursday January 28.
Inventories in Huzhou remained unchanged, while inventories in the other four warehouses increased to varying degrees. Among them, Foshan increased the most, reaching 10,100 mt, followed by Wuxi with an increase of 3,100 mt. In addition, inventories in Nanchang increased 2400 mt, and stocks in Changzhou increased 8 million mt.
