SHANGHAI, Jan 26 (SMM) – China's steel production increased moderately in the middle of January.
The China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) reported that crude steel output across major mills in China averaged 2.22 million mt per day in the second 10 days of December, up 1.02% from early January and up 12.33% from the same period a year ago.
Average daily production of pig iron across those mills rose 0.89% from early January to 1.96 million mt in mid-December, and that of steel products increased 0.41% to 2.06 million mt.
As of January 20, inventories of steel products across those mills stood at 14.04 million mt, up 1.02 million mt from early January. The stocks were 2.42 million mt, or 20.84% higher than the beginning of the year.
