SHANGHAI, Jan 19 (SMM)—Prices of mainstream rare earth products were relatively steady today. Offers for medium and heavy rare earth strengthened, while prices of light rare earth such as lanthanum oxide and cerium oxide were stable.

Most of the sellers of rare earth oxides, such as neodymium-praseodymium oxide, terbium oxide, and dysprosium oxide, which saw prices rise sharply recently, were reluctant to sell. Inquiries for dysprosium oxide were relatively active, while that for praseodymium-neodymium oxide and terbium oxide declined, as their fast-rising prices kept downstream metal factories and magnetic materials factories on the sidelines.

As of today, neodymium-praseodymium oxide was mainly traded between 448,000-454,000 yuan/mt, with the average price rising 3,000 yuan/mt from yesterday January 18. Terbium oxide was traded at 8,650-8750 yuan/kg, with the average price increasing 100 yuan/kg from yesterday. Traded prices of dysprosium oxide stood at 2140-2170 yuan/kg, and the average price was 20 yuan/kg higher than yesterday.

Prices of neodymium, praseodymium metals stood at 554,000-558,000 yuan/mt, with the average price up 500 yuan/mt from Jnuary 18. Prices of terbium metal came in at 10,800-11,000 yuan/kg, and the average price was 150 yuan/kg higher than yesterday. Dysprosium metal was traded between 2,660-2,700 yuan/kg, and the average price was10 yuan/kg higher than yesterday.
