Vedanta reopens Gamsberg Zinc Mine in South Africa

SMM1, 18 / PRNewswire-Asianet /--: Vedanta Zinc International said its Gamsberg mine in South Africa has been reopened. In November 2020, the mine was closed because it collapsed, leaving miners trapped underground.

The company said there would be no mining capacity in December 2020 and is expected to increase gradually in January next year. In the first stage of full capacity production, Gamsberg will produce 250000 tons of zinc concentrate per year.
