According to foreign news on January 15, according to data released by the Kazakh Bureau of Statistics on Friday, the country's refined copper production increased by 1.8% year-on-year in 2020, refined zinc production rose slightly by 0.1% year-on-year, and crude steel production fell 3.1% year-on-year. London-listed copper miner (KAZ Minerals), the Kazakh metals group, and Kazzinc, a subsidiary of Glencore (Glencore), contribute a large portion of Kazakhstan's metal production. According to the data, refined copper production in December was 38233 tons, up 10.4 per cent from the previous month and 3.4 per cent lower than the same period last year, while production in 2020 was 480816 tons, up 1.8 per cent from the same period last year.
The output of refined zinc in December was 25470 tons, down 13.7 per cent from the previous month and 8.9 per cent from the same period last year, while the annual output in 2020 was 318793 tons, up 0.1 per cent from the same period last year. Crude steel production in December was 422887 tons, up 20.0 per cent from the previous month and 23.0 per cent over the same period last year, while the annual output in 2020 was 4002808 tons, down 3.1 per cent from the same period last year.
