European electric car sales tripled to a monthly high in November

It is reported that the number of electric car registrations in Europe continued to grow sharply in November, setting a new monthly sales record, and December registrations, usually the month with the highest number of registrations per year, are also expected to perform well.

According to EV Sales Blog, the number of electric passenger cars registered in Europe in November was 166255, up 198% from a year earlier, and the market share reached a staggering 16%. By contrast, sales in Europe as a whole are down 14% from a year earlier.

In November, European pure electric cars and plug-in hybrids performed equally well, with a market share of 8 per cent, with registrations of 83512 and 82743 respectively, up 182 per cent and 217 per cent year-on-year.

From January to November this year, nearly 1085000 electric passenger cars were registered in Europe, accounting for 10 per cent of the market, of which 5.4 per cent were pure electric vehicles. Thanks to the bright performance in November, electric car sales are likely to exceed 1.25 million in 2020.

In terms of monthly registration, in November, the best-selling electric model in Europe was Renault Zoe, with 9953 registrations, of which 7231 were registered in Germany and France; the second was Volkswagen ID.3, with 8496; the third was Hyundai electric car Kona, with 5375; Tesla Model 3 ranked fourth with 5014; and the fifth was Mercedes-Benz A-class 250e with 4517.

In terms of cumulative registrations in the first 11 months, the best-selling electric car is still Renault Zoe; second place Model 3; Volkswagen ID.3 is currently sixth, but its annual overall registration ranking is likely to rise to fourth place. In addition, the Mercedes-Benz A-Class 250e is likely to win the top spot for plug-in hybrid cars in Europe this year and is now in fierce competition with Mitsubishi Outlander and Volvo XC40.
