Daily crude steel output at CISA key mills dipped 0.04% in mid-December

The China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) reported that crude steel output across major mills in China averaged 2.14 million mt per day in the second 10 days of December, down 0.04% from early December and up 13.49% from the same period a year ago.

SHANGHAI, Dec 28 (SMM) – China’s steel production decreased slightly in early December.

The China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) reported that crude steel output across major mills in China averaged 2.14 million mt per day in the second 10 days of December, down 0.04% from early December and up 13.49% from the same period a year ago.

Average daily production of pig iron across those mills fell 0.77% from early December to 1.94 million mt in mid-December, while that of steel products rose 2.01% to 2.14 million mt.

As of December 20, inventories of steel products across those mills stood at 13.05 million mt, up 370,800 mt from December 10. The stocks were 3.52 million mt, or 36.91% higher than the beginning of the year.
